How to Measure Waist, Height, and Hips

Waist:

  • Stand up straight, relaxed (do not suck in belly).
  • Wrap tape measure around waist at the narrowest point — usually just above the belly button.
  • Keep the tape level, snug but not tight.
  • If no clear narrow point, measure midway between lowest rib and top of hip bone.

Hips:

  • Stand straight with feet together.
  • Measure around the widest part of the hips and buttocks.
  • Keep the tape level, snug but not tight.

Height:

  • Stand straight against a wall, no shoes.
  • Measure from floor to the top of the head.

Important:

  • Use centimeters (cm) for most accurate result.
  • For children, measure waist at belly button level.
  • Always measure directly on skin — not over clothes.
